Contribuciones Bulletin Announcement Form This can be used as a tool when members of The Church want to include an announcement in an upcoming bulletin. A Manual for Acolytes You are joining the ranks of those who have helped with the worship service since the year 250 A.D. The word acolyte means a "companion" or "one who helps." In accepting this position you will be serving as a companion or helper to your pastor: performing a number of important functions before, during, and at the close of the worship service. Read the following pages carefully so that you will know exactly what you are to do, when you are to do it, and how you are to do it properly! Wedding Guidebook People from all cultures and all religions get married. As a result, marriage is not the sole possession of the church. That you have chosen to be married in the Christian Church means your wedding at St. John's will be a worship service. Therefore, as is the case in all Christian worship, our primary focus is on God. We come together to praise and thank God for the good gifts that the Creator has showered upon the human family and upon the church. Endowment Funds - St. John's Document Mission Statement: The mission of the St. John's Endowment Fund is to encourage Christian stewardship and to enhance the outreach ministry of the congregation by providing an orderly method for receiving and administering gifts bequeathed to the church through wills and other forms of estate planning. Heal with a Meal A meal is one of the most gracious gifts that can be given to a family in crisis; I know this from first-hand experience. When a family member is hospitalized or dies, mealtime is the first thing to be disrupted. There is either no time to cook or very little inclination to prepare a meal. When my wife Audrey was seriously ill, the meals prepared by members of The Church were vital. They took the pressure off thinking about cooking and allowed our family to focus where we needed to focus. Brown Bag Lunch with the Pastor What's a brown bag lunch? A chance for members of the congregation to meet with the pastors once a month in an informal setting. Sometimes the pastors choose a topic for discussion and announce it in the previous week's "Opportunities" bulletin. In the year since this tradition began, attendance at Brown Bag Lunches has ranged from 4 to 25 people. Confirmation Program Booklet: Growing in GOD'S Family Confirmation is an educational and pastoral ministry of our church designed to help all baptized members grow in their faith. Confirmation begins at baptism and lasts a lifetime. Public affirmation of baptism in the rite of confirmation marks the entry of the confirmand into full voting membership in the congregation. |
