Contributions Where's Noah? We are doing "Where's Noah?" for our Lenten services this year. "Where's Noah?" is a lenten program of services and activities by Arley K. Fadness and published by CSS Publishing Company, Inc. One of the activities suggested in the book were to make animal tokens and have Noah give them out each Wednesday evening. Worship Cards These cards are printed on colored paper in varying heights to make it visually appealing in the pew. The themes on the cards are: "A Candle," "The Chalice," "The Word of God - 'A Little Bible.'" "The Cross," "Baptism - The Shell," and "They clothed him in a purple cloak." (Mark 15:17). All Saints Banner The bulletin insert (text appears below) was placed in bulletins in advance of All Saints Sunday. Small bells with a ribbon and pin were available to pin on the banner, which was used in the procession on All Saints Sunday.
Prayers of the Passion Take time to read, think, pray and meditate along with your neighbors and friends from The Church this Lenten season. I am sure you will be blessed by their faith journeys. Each of us has experienced a life-giving faith in Jesus Christ in a little different way. People and experiences shape our life and our faith. This devotional aid is an excellent way for all of us to add to our spiritual growth during Lent. Lenten Key Cards We made up key change cards for the six weeks of Lent. On one side of each card we used the four keys of the Child in Our Hands: Caring conversations, family devotions, family service and family rituals and traditions. The back side gave a brief description of some legend and/or tradition relating to the Lenten/Easter season. Grandparents Program The Parish Education Committee put on a program celebrating "Grandparents". The celebration started with both the Cherubs (pre-school through 1st grade) and the Kids of the Kingdom (Grades 2 through 6) choirs each singing a special song during the worship service to grandparents. First Communion Practices First Communion is approaching. The children make their own communion bread with the help of the parents. Cradle Roll We, as a congregation, are including the little ones by enrolling newly baptized babies in our cradle roll. They are receiving a full-color growth chart and a postcard for their baptism, also postcards at 6 months, 1 year, 18 months, 2 years, 30 months, and 3 years. They will receive their little cradle plaque when they start Sunday School. Cradle Roll Banner This Cradle Roll Banner was made by a congregation member. Any baptized child is put on a card and listed. They are kept on the banner for three years. The card has the child's name, date of birth and baptism date. Monday Morning Message The e-mail is sent each Monday morning to all members who have e-mail addresses. It is also sent to a few nonmembers who are interested in what is happening at Zion. |
