Contributions Worship Walk Script The "Worship Walk" was developed at Gloria Dei as a way to celebrate the completion of our new worship facility and to educate people of all ages about worship. Tour guides were trained to take small groups of church school children, their parents, and other members through the walk. It was very well received and the children asked lots of good questions and showed a great interest in the physical and spiritual aspects of the worship space. Church Year Calendar There is a rhythm to life. There are school calendars to follow. There is a start-up date for school, various vacation days off, and a closing day in May. And there are lots of things packed into the school year. In our church year, there is a rhythm and a progression. There is some logic and reason for what we do as far as the seasons of the church season. Litany for the Gift of Marriage and Family I helped my mom and dad celebrate their 50th Wedding Anniversary. It was a wonderful time. We celebrated 50 years of sharing life through thick and thin. But we also celebrated the gift of marriage and family for today. In a world marred by divorce and division we could affirm that God meant us for each other. As our Genesis text reminds us, "It is not good that man should be alone." Transition from Old to New Sanctuary Our congregation used this transition service as we moved from our old sanctuary to the new sanctuary. At the worship service, there were remarks about the memories the old building held - all of the baptisms, marriages, funerals, and events that had been held in this sanctuary, followed by a litany of Thanksgiving. The choir sang, "Thanks be to Thee"... |
