Malawi Hunger Appeal Bookmarks
As 2005 ends, the country of Malawi, along with other countries in sub-Saharan Africa, finds itself in the midst of a hunger crisis. To respond to this crisis, Immanuel Lutheran Church and congregations of the Northwest Synod of Wisconsin, in a Companion Synod relationship with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Malawi, are making a hunger appeal. This card can be used as a bookmark or Christmas ornament to make a life-saving gift in honor of a loved one or friend.

Enclosed is the letter to the congregation with blaze orange envelopes sent out with the letter and also placed in bulletins on the day of our hunger appeal. Note the buck on the envelope.

What One Kid Can Do

He insists on putting together as many Christmas child boxes as he is able. He says, "All I can think about is a long line of children with nothing but hope and the Chrstmas boxes running out before all the children have one."

A Great Time for a Great Cause
Faith Lutheran of Marshfield recently held a golf outing for fellowship and fund raising for Stand With Africa. Prizes were donated and funds were raised with various "optional" purchases by the golfers. As part of the education/fund raising dimenstion, there was a "quiz question" at each hole, with questions pertaining to our benevolence for the world's hungry or about biblical texts dealing with food. Prize for the winners of the quiz was a home-made apple pie!
