Contributions Mentor (Friends in Faith) Service When you were baptized, God made promises to you and gave you the gift of the Holy Spirit. Your parents and the people of this congregation have helped you grow in faith by being faithful to their own promises made at your baptism. Are you ready now to enter further into our life together through renewed commitment to the worship of God, through service, and through your active involvement in our Friend in Faith program throughout your high school years? Service for Enrollment of Confirmands The ministers address the candidates: When you were baptized, God made promises to you and gave you the gift of the Holy Spirit. Your parents and the people of this congregation have helped you grow in faith through their own promises. Are you ready now to enter further into our life together through your promises, by attending the worship of God, through service, and by receiving instruction about our faith? Confirmation Art Congregations expect their confirmands to demonstrate some familiarity with the key parts of Luther's Small Catechism and the Biblical story. Pastor Duane Pederson encourages his students to demonstrate that knowledge in a variety of ways. One student chose to create a wall mural in one of their rotational Sunday School rooms. Napkin Creed - What is a Lutheran This is a little tool for people of all ages to use to draw on a napkin while at dinner with a friend to share what some of the core beliefs of Lutherans are, thus the title napkin creed. Mars Settlement Bible Study Workbook is Saints and Sojourners Bible Survey. EVERYONE BEGINS WITH ONE GROUP. Then, take the worksheet and your workbook home and complete the rest of the group's activities. This will give us the framework for our classes for the rest of the year. Adopt a Grandparent A goal of the class is to bring different generations together to get to know one-another. The confirmation class, made up of students in sixth through eighth grades, discussed aging and stereotypes about growing older. The students also planned and prepared the meal and helped pick up guests who needed a ride to church. Who Wants to be a Millionaire This activity was developed to test the group's knowledge of the Sacraments in a relaxed and fun way. You can also write questions in other areas of the Small Catechism or other subjects covered in Confirmation. I wrote the answers on an easel pad that was placed in a wooden frame that the students could see. The questions and answers can also be written in a PowerPoint presentation if you are familiar with PowerPoint. |
