Contributions Covenant with The ELCIN, ELCRN, ELCIN-GELC, and ELCA Called by the Gospel of Jesus Christ as disciples in mission, 60 Lutherans from across Namibia and the USA have come together to worship and pray, to listen and learn, to share and dialogue. Out of this time walking together as equals, we arrived at the following commitments. Mission Our mission is, “We are partners in this Companion Covenant to give one another opportunities to share our commitment to Christ in the community of faith and to give expression to our Oneness in Christ. Joint Statement of our Mission The Diocese of Meru, ELCT and the Greater Milwaukee Synod, ELCA have heartily agreed to have a partnership based on both spiritual and physical development under the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, based initially on the following guidelines Companion Covenant The Companion Synod relationship of Western Iowa Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America and the Southern Diocese of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Tanzania exists for the purpose of strengthening one another for life and mission within the body of Christ. It offers us the privilege of participating in the life of another church through prayer, study, communications, and exchange of persons and resources. It opens our eyes to the global challenge that Christ offers us today through and involvement with a church of another culture and calls us to deepen our commitment and discipleship as individual persons and as a community of faith. Covenant The Companion Congregation relationship exists for the purpose of strengthening one another for life and mission within the body of Christ. It offers us the privilege of participating in the life of another church through prayer, study, communications, and exchange of persons and resources. It opens our eyes to the global challenge that Christ offers us today and calls us to deepen our commitment and discipleship as individual persons and as a community of faith. Covenant The companion church relationship exists for the purpose of strengthening one another for life and mission within the body of Christ. It offers us the privilege of participating in the life of another church through prayer, study, communication and exchanges of persons and resources. It opens our eyes to the global challenge that Christ offers us today and calls us to deepen our commitment and discipleship as individual persons and as a community of faith. Covenant Agreement With joy and thanksgiving to God, this covenant relationship is established between the United Evangelical Lutheran Church in Argentina and Uruguay and the Northeastern Pennsylvania Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. As companions in Christ, we participate in each other's life and mission through communication, learning, prayer, and sharing the gifts we have received from God. This relationship is mutual; we both give and receive as brothers and sisters in one holy, catholic, and apostolic Church. |
