Contributions Pastor's Sabbatical Policy and Procedure A sabbatical leave is understood to be a time of release from normal duties in order that a pastor may devote time to renewal and study. A sabbatical leave is understood as an integral and important part of an overall strategy for enhancing the mission of the congregation through pastoral renewal, development, and growth. Team Pastor The Team Pastor's role is to preach and teach the Word of God, conduct worship services, administer the sacraments, and provide pastoral care and leadership in accordance with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America and the constitution and bylaws of this congregation. The Team Pastor is called to share leadership roles for the ministry team and the church. Coordinating Team Pastor The Coordinating Team Pastor's role is to preach and teach the Word of God, conduct worship services, administer the sacraments, and provide pastoral care and leadership in accordance with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America and the constitution and bylaws of this congregation. Associate Pastor The Associate Pastor is to provide spiritual and pastoral leadership. The Associate Pastor will preach, teach and administer the Sacraments and give primary leadership in the ministries of Education, Youth, Social Action, and Pastoral Care. Part-Time Visitation Pastor The Visitation Pastor provides pastoral care, to proclaim the Good News, and to administer Holy Communion to infirm and shut-in persons in their homes, hospitals, nursing homes, and other special settings. Also, a resource person with knowledge of church and community services which will aid and assist home-bound and nursing home members of the congregation. Pastor to Older Adults The Pastor to Older Adults provides spiritual and pastoral leadership to the older adult members of the church. To bring the Good News and administer the sacraments to older adults in their homes, hospitals, nursing home, and other special settings. To be a resource person with knowledge of church and community services which will aid and assist the older adults of the congregation. To support the whole ministry of the church through limited, general pastoral work in the congregation. Associate Pastor for Adult Education and Small Groups The Associate Pastor for Adult Education and Small Groups equips the people of God for the work of ministry through programs of adult education and the development of small groups. Also, the Associate Pastor provides the public ministry of Word and Sacraments with a regular rotation of preaching and Eucharistic leadership, including worship planning. Conduct weddings and funerals as requested. Senior Pastor and Associate Pastor The Senior Pastor and Associate Pastor is to provide spiritual and pastoral leadership to the membership of the church. The Senior Pastor will serve as the chief administrator of the congregation so that it might fulfill its mission and purpose as the body of Christ. The Senior Pastor and Associate Pastor will preach, teach, and administer the Sacraments and give primary leadership in the ministries of Worship, Administration, Stewardship, and Outreach. Associate Pastor - Youth & Family Ministry The Associate Pastor guides the congregation in the continued development of comprehensive youth and family ministries which deepen faith and strengthen family relationships. Also, the Associate Pastor provides the public ministry of Word and Sacraments with a regular rotation of preaching and Eucharistic leadership, including worship planning. Conduct weddings and funerals as requested. General Policy for Pastors St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church has called a Senior Pastor, and an Associate Pastor. For the purpose of effectiveness and good order, the Senior Pastor will be the administrative pastor and will perform administrative duties in the organization. Both pastors will have general, overall pastoral responsibility, not being excluded from any area of ministry. |
