Contributions Family Cross "Our United in the Cross" banners were created in 1984. Since that time we have welcomed many new members. So that every member will be represented, the directions for the family crosses are included this month. Knitting 301 – Lace Scarf In this two session class students will learn basic lace technique, utilizing two classic Shetland lace patterns, as well as the ever handy provisional crochet cast on. The Bible studies revolve around the theme of “holiness,” as lace work is full of holes. Knitting 204-Fuzzy Feet In Knitting 204 the class will learn the anatomy of a sock and the techniques involved in its construction, and also become acquainted with felting. Knitting 202-Felted Mittens In Knitting 202, the class will learn how to knit in the round, how to graft stitches together, and how the fulling process works. It is a three week class. Mittens are fun and quick projects, and they make people happy, both to knit and to receive. Knitting 201- Cable Pillow The purpose of Knitting 201 is twofold: to teach the class how to make a cable stitch, and to teach them how to read a knitting chart. Fisherman's Knits traditionally tell a story. This pillow tells a story, too. It is "The Love Pillow." The cable pattern forms the traditional "X-O" motif, or kisses and hugs Knitting 104: Knitting with the Other Hand This is a one-session class in which participants will learn to knit while holding the yarn in the opposite hand from which they normally do. Leaders of this class should be able to teach knitting and purling with both hands. I find it helpful to have assistants who are also adept in knitting both ways,as this breaks down the student-to-teacher ratio. Knitting 103 - Teddy Bear Sweater The goal is to encourage the class: if you can knit this teddy bear sweater, then you can knit a person sized sweater, too! Knitting 101 - Knitting a Bible Study In today's lesson, teach the class how to cast on and knit. Get them started on the Seaman's Scarf. For homework, have the group work the first 14" of the scarf pattern. Give them two weeks to work on it before your next class. All four sessions are included. |
